How do you save a recipe from TikTok, Instagram, YouTube or Facebook?
With Mijoted, the free app for iPhone and Android, you save a recipe from the Share button of the app where you found it: TikTok, Instagram, YouTube, Facebook or your browser.
Mijoted picks up the ingredients and the steps, and keeps the link to the source. A recipe from a cookbook or a notebook is saved by taking a photo of it.
Save a TikTok recipe
- In TikTok, open the recipe video and tap Share.
- Choose Mijoted from the apps offered. You can also copy the video link, then, in Mijoted, tap “+”, “Video” and “Paste the copied link”.
- Mijoted reads the video description and, if that is not enough, the creator’s comments, then the video itself (what is said and the text on screen).
- Tap “Import this recipe”, check it, then tap “Save”. It joins your recipe book, with the “Watch the video” button.
Save an Instagram recipe
- In Instagram, open the recipe Reel or post and tap Share.
- Choose Mijoted from the apps offered, or copy the link, then, in Mijoted, tap “+”, “Video” and “Paste the copied link”.
- Mijoted reads the caption of the post and picks up the ingredients and the steps.
- Tap “Import this recipe”, check it, then tap “Save”.
- If the caption does not contain the recipe, Mijoted saves it as “To complete”, with the link: tap “Complete the recipe”, then “Paste the caption” or “Import a screenshot”.
Save a YouTube or YouTube Shorts recipe
- In YouTube, open the recipe video or Short and tap Share.
- Choose Mijoted from the apps offered, or copy the link, then, in Mijoted, tap “+”, “Video” and “Paste the copied link”.
- Mijoted reads the video description and, if that is not enough, the creator’s comment.
- Tap “Import this recipe”, check it, then tap “Save”.
Save a Facebook recipe
- In Facebook, open the recipe post or video and tap Share.
- Choose Mijoted from the apps offered, or copy the link, then, in Mijoted, tap “+”, “Link” and “Paste the copied link”.
- A post that links to a recipe website: Mijoted reads the recipe on that website. A recipe written in the post: Mijoted reads it directly.
- A Facebook video: Mijoted saves it straight away as “To complete”, with its link; tap “Paste the recipe text” or “Import a screenshot” to complete it.
- Check the recipe, then tap “Save”.
Save a recipe from a website
- Open the recipe page in your browser.
- Tap Share, then choose Mijoted. You can also copy the page address, then, in Mijoted, tap “+”, “Link” and “Paste the copied link”.
- Mijoted picks up the title, the ingredients, the steps and the photo of the recipe, with the link to the website.
- Tap “Import this recipe”, check it, then tap “Save”.
Save a recipe from ChatGPT
- In ChatGPT, open the conversation with the recipe, tap Share, then copy the share link.
- In Mijoted, tap “+”, “Link” and “Paste the copied link”.
- Mijoted reads the last ChatGPT reply that contains a recipe and picks up the ingredients and the steps; your own messages are not read.
- Tap “Import this recipe”, check it, then tap “Save”. The recipe keeps ChatGPT as its source.
- Only a share link works: the address of a private conversation, the one in the address bar, can’t be read.
Save a recipe from a cookbook or a notebook
- In Mijoted, tap “+”, then “Photo”.
- Scan the page; if the recipe continues, tap “Add a page” (4 pages at most).
- Tap “Read the recipe”: Mijoted copies out the recipe, even handwritten, and points out the parts it found hard to read.
- Check it, correct it if needed, then tap “Save”. The photos of the pages stay attached to the recipe.
Find and cook your recipes
- Search: find a recipe by its title, an ingredient or a tag, with or without accents.
- Weekly planner: put your recipes on the meals of the coming days, for the planned servings.
- Shopping list: add the ingredients of a recipe or of the week; quantities add up, and with Premium the list is sorted by aisle.
- Cooking mode: follow the recipe one step at a time, with timers.
Frequently asked questions
Is Mijoted free?
Yes. The free version keeps up to 15 recipes, with no time limit, and importing recipes is included. Premium, at €4.99 a month or €39.99 a year for the whole household, unlocks the rest, with a 7-day trial.
Do I need an account?
Yes, a free account: it backs up your recipes so you find them on all your devices. You sign in with Apple, Google or a link received by email, with no password.
What happens if the video is deleted?
The recipe stays in your recipe book: its ingredients and steps are saved there. Only the “Watch the video” button no longer leads to the video.
What if the recipe is not written under the video?
Depending on the platform, Mijoted also reads the creator’s comments or the video itself. If it still finds no recipe, it saves it as “To complete” with the video link: paste the caption or a screenshot to complete it.
Can I save a recipe from ChatGPT?
Yes, with the conversation’s share link: in ChatGPT, tap Share and copy the link, then, in Mijoted, tap “+”, “Link” and “Paste the copied link”. The address of a private conversation doesn’t work.
Does it work with recipes in other languages?
Yes. Mijoted reads recipes written in another language and saves them in the language of the app: French, English, Spanish, German or Italian. The link to the original recipe is kept.
Are my recipes public?
No. They stay in your recipe book, for your own use. An imported recipe simply keeps a link to its source.
